Melvin Henry Kleen Obituary

Melvin Henry Kleen, the son of Claus and Sadie Bowman Kleen, was born
Heritage Regency in Richmond, Indiana at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 20
days.

Melvin attended school at Bruning and graduated from the University of Nebraska
at Lincoln with the class of 1940.  He entered the United States Navy on July 31,
1944 and served during World War II.  He was honorably discharged from the
Navy on January 26, 1946.

Melvin was united in marriage to Lois M. Bartels on July 4, 1941.  He was
employed by the U.S. Government as a hydrologist.  The family lived in Maryland
as Melvin worked out of Washington, D.C.  They moved to Richmond, Indiana in
1981.

Melvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Richmond and served on
many boards, committees, and other volunteer organizations.  He was a volunteer
for groceries for shut-ins (RSVP).  He was a volunteer teacher at the Richmond
State Hospital and was in the "study buddy" program with the Richmond
Community Schools.  He also enjoyed his stamp and coin collecting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Sadie Kleen; one brother,
Eldon; and one sister, Adeline.

Melvin is survived by his wife Lois of Richmond, Indiana; three sons, Vernon
Kleen and wife Betty of Springfield, Illinois; Stanley Kleen of Dayton, Ohio; and
Clinton Kleen and wife Linda of Dallas, Texas; one Daughter, Alvita Johnson of
Little Falls, Minnesota; one brother, Harold Kleen and wife Luella of Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
