Katharine Louis Struempler was born December 14, 1896 at Clatonia, Nebraska.  
She was the daughter of Dietrich H. and Caroline Kaiser Sagehorn.  She died
March 23, 1984 at the age of 87.
Katharine received her education and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith.
On January 14, 1917 she married Martin Struempler.  To this union four children
were born: Ethel, Gladys, Elmer and Norman.
In 1919 they moved from Deshler to the Amherst, Colorado area where they
farmed.  They lived on the farm until 1951 when they moved into Amherst.  In 1972,
Holyoke, Colorado.  Katharine moved from there in 1973 to the Sunset View
retirement Housing in Holyoke.  She lived there until once again she was forced by
health reasons to enter Prairie Vista Nursing Home in Holyoke in the fall of 1982.  
She was a resident there until her death.
Katharine was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.  She was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke at the time of her death.  She remained active for
her Lord until the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin ; one son,
Norman; one grandson, Delvin; three brothers, Dietrich, Albert, and Louis; and one
son-in-law, Francis Ellis.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Ethel) Ellis of Holyoke; a daughter
and her husband, Willard R. and Gladys Ellis of Holyoke; a son and his wife, Elmer
and Katherine Struempler of El Paso, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Norman
(Rena) Struempler of Carmel, Indiana; a brother, Walter Sagehorn of Holyoke; a
sister, Sophia Schultz of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; sixteen
great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives
and friends.
Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke, Colorado on March 27,
1984, Rev. Gary A. Rahe conducted the services.  Interment was in Holyoke
Memorial Cemetery.  Thompson Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
