Emil George Wilhelm Malchow Obituary

- Emil George Wilhelm Malchow was born at Beemer, Nebraska, on April 28, 1903, the son of August Malchow and Dora nee Faudel. He was baptized in his grandparents' home at Wisner, Nebraska, on May 31, 1903, by Rev. S. Meeske. He was confirmed March 24, 1918 at Christ Lutheran Church, Wisner, Nebraska, by Rev. Paul Raschke.
- On October 5, 1926, he was united in marriage with Hilda Strumpler in a service at her parents home officiated by Rev. W. F. H. Heuer. To this union five children were born: Dennis, of Omaha; Clarice, Mrs. Gary Groeling, of Littleton, Colorado; Arlyce, of Omaha; LaVoris, Mrs. LeRoy Fisher, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a son, their first child, who died in infancy. The Malchows also raised three foster children: Lois, Mrs. Melvin Kleen, of Laurel, Maryland; Donald Bartels of Clinton, Washington; and Betty, Mrs. Irvin Holtzen, of Hastings, Nebraska.
- The Malchows farmed in the Hebron area until 1940 when they moved into Hebron. He was employed for a time by Standard Market, then as a mechanic for Walter Korff until 1952, with Werner and Hopps Irrigation until 1962, and with K. C. Nelson until he retired in 1968.
- He was hospitalized at Methodist Hospital in Omaha from May 28 to June 19. He died at his home on July 14, 1976 at the age of seventy-three years, two months, and sixteen days.
- He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold, who died in 1962, and by his son who died in infancy.
- He is survived by his wife, Hilda; by the children listed above, Dennis, Clarice Arlyce, LaVoris, Lois, Donald and Betty, by fourteen grandchildren, by two brothers, Frank Malchow, Gregory, South Dakota, and Benjamin Malchow, Yutan, Nebraska, and by a sister, Mrs. Charles Lamberty, Grove City, Minnesota.
- Had he lived, Mr. and Mrs. Malchow would have observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary on October 5 of this year.
- Mr. Malchow had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church since January, 1927. He had served on the planning committee for the Education Unit, on the Parish Education Committee, and as an usher.
- Funeral services were at Grace Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 19, with Rev. Douglas Allen officiating. He preached on Mr. Malchow';s confirmation verse, Revelation 3:20. A quartet composed of Dorieta Kleider, Irene Pubanz, David Cording and Raymond Drews sang "Just as I Am" and "How Great Thou Art" while the congregation sang the hymn, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Mrs. Lavern Krenke was organist.
- The pall bearers were Elmer Heider, Robert Heider, Marvin Werner, Robert Werner, Donald Hartley, and Roger Wiedel. Internment was in the Hebron City Cemetery. Adams-Tibbetts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
