Martin Bernhard Struempler Obituary
- Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 1974, from St. Paul's Lutheran church, Amherst, for Martin Struempler, 79, who passed away Sunday, Jan, 6, at Melissa Memorial hospital, Holyoke.
- Rev. Theo Schauland officiated at the services. Internment was in Holyoke Memorial park. Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
- Martin Bernhard Andreas Struempler, son of Herman and Clara Thieme Struempler, was born Oct. 21 1894, at Hampton, Hamelton county, Nebr., and was baptized Oct. 22, 1894 into the Lutheran faith.
- He moved to Hebron, Nebr. in 1906 with his family, where he received his education and grew to man hood.
- He was married to Katharine Sagehorn Jan. 14, 1917 near Hebron. They moved to the Amherst community in 1919. They moved to Amherst in 1951.
- Due to ill health he moved to the Sheridan Manor nursing home in Aug. 1971.
- He was preceded in death by a son Norman in 1961; a grandson Delvin Struempler in 1969; his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
- He is survived by his wife, Katharine; two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Ethel) Ellis, Holyoke; Mrs, Willard R. (Gladys) Ellis, Colorado Springs; a son, Elmer, El Paso, Tex.; a daughter-in-law, Rena Struempler; three sisters, Amelia Werner and Hilda Malchow, Hebron, Nebr., Hanna Wuebbenhorst, Buhl, Idaho; two brothers, Herman, St. Louis, Mo., and Irwin, Winter park, Fla., eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
