SHOBONIER — Iris O. Kruenegel, 74 of Shobonier died at 2:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19,
2011, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at “Augsburg” Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Shobonier, with the Rev. Bruce Milash officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to services
Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Augsburg Angels,
Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery or American Red Cross.
Iris was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Fayette County, the daughter of Walter and Olga (Wodtke)
Summann. She married Charles Kruenegel on March 2, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Shobonier, and he survives.
She was a homemaker, member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shobonier, Ladies Aid and
founding member of Country Cousins Card Club.
In addition to Charles, she is survived by her son, David Allen (wife, Stacy) Kruenegel of
Shobonier; daughter, Carol Ann Shook of Mattoon; sister, Emily (husband, Don) Ehrat of
Shobonier; sisters-in-law, Ruth Summann of Shobonier and Flo-Ann (husband, Keith)
Klukius of Oviedo, Fla.; grandchildren, Tyler (wife, Karlee) Kruenegel, Meredith Shook,
Adam Shook and Jamie Kruenegel; and great-grandchild, Grant Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Summann
