Dear Brother-in-law including Family,

Now will I once reply to your last letter.  We are so far still all well, the same I also hope for you all.  I must
apologize that I have not written sooner, but one has now so much to consider when one so alone stands
however it leaves oneself not change.

Mother and Fritz the two lie together and there is still a place for me  then is the grave site full.  At that time I
thought the 10 dollar I would use at the grave site for a border completely around then can one the grave site
much better order maintain.  Or what do you think of it?  What a gravestone costs I still have not been able to
obtain.  It was this summer so much work, that one did not have time.  Probably a family stone would be better   
as soon as I have the time I will obtain it and will write what it cost.  I am now not in the position to buy a stone.  I
bought the Telthörster’s meadow and this summer the best cow had to move     it was at least 500 lb
expected     that was a large anticipated payment for me however it is always something.  The rye harvest is this
year not particularly good    the hay harvest is good   the crop of potatoes will also not particularly turn out well.  
Here it rained much this summer.  Among the cattle is now the foot and mouth epidemic   Neighbor Wünker has
it already, until so far are we still free.

Liebe Schwager nebst Famielge,

Jetzt will ich mal deinen letzten Brief wieder beantworten.  Uns geht es bis so weit ja noch alle gut, Das selbe
hoffe ich auch von euch allen.  Ich muß mich entschuldigen das ich nicht eher geschrieben habe, aber mann
hat jetzt so viel zu bedenken wenn mann so allein steht aber es läßt sich ja nicht ändern.  

Mutter und Fritz die beiden liegen zusammen und denn ist noch Platz für mich du dann ist die Grabstätte voll.  
Ich dachte die 10 Dollar von damals wollen ich anwenden Daß ich die Grabstätte ganz umher einfaßen ließe
denn kann mann die Grabstätte viel beßer in Ordnung halten.  Oder was denkst du davon?  Was ein Grabstein
kostet ich hab mich noch garnicht um bekümmern können   Es war diesen Sommer so viel Arbeit, das man
keine zeit hatte.  Denn wäre wohl besser ein Famielien stein Sobald es die zeit erlebt will ich mich darum
bekümmer und will es gleich schreiben was er kostet.  Ich bin jetzt nicht in der Lage ein Stein zu kaufen.  Ich
habe mich die Wiese von Telthörster gekauft und habe diesen Sommer die beste Kuh abnehmen müßen die
war mindester 500 lb anwert das war ein großer abschlag für mich aber es hört ja selten mit etwas auf.  Die
Roggenerte ist dieses Jahr nicht ganz besonders gewesen die Heuernte ist gut die Kartoffelernte wird auch
wohl nicht besonders ausfallen.  Hier hat es viel geregnet diesen Sommer.  Zwischen dem Vieh ist jetzt die
Maul und Klauenseuche Nachbar  Wünker hat es auch schon, bis soweit sind wir noch befreit.
