Frietz Struempler and Sophie to Wilhelm Struempler - Concerning the war and family
2007.  Pamela Kopf Gealy and her father Gerhart Kopf had put together a book on the descendants of
William and Johanna Struempler the previous year and had probed many relatives for pictures and
property in Nebraska, Brian Kopf, remembered his father had received a box of things from his
bachelor uncle, Bill Struempler, years before. Bill was a son of immigrant William Struempler, to whom
these letters were written by his mother, Sophie Summann Strümpler and other family members in
letters to Pam who is in the process of translating them.

The letters are all written in the old German script, which Pam soon discovered is no longer readable to
most Germans.  By learning the alphabet, she is in the process of transcribing the letters to
recognizable German, and then roughly translating them.  Handwriting, spelling and lack of punctuation
has made this a slow process.  Offers to polish the translations would be greatly appreciated!  Anyone
